GPORTAL and Unreal Engine (Epic Games) start partnership

10.12.2017

Long story short: For a while now, we are in a partnership with Epic Games and the Unreal Engine to exchange views and experiences. The first product evolved from this partnership in our GPORTAL Connector Plugin for Unreal Engine. With this plugin, game studios can directly submit project applications to us, so we are able to support them with free hardware early in the development process.

Today we are very proud! As a couple of you already may have noticed, we are regularly working together with game studios to be able to provide you the best possible multiplayer experience. After we already collaborated with Funcom (Conan Exiles) and Blue Isle (Citadel: Forged with Fire) last year, we noticed how much many game studios had to catch up in terms of multiplayer infrastructure and how much we could help them with professional consulting and our decade-long experience. Some months ago, the idea matured to directly establish contact with Epic Games, to get involved into the development of games from the beginning on to guarantee the best possible gaming experience for our customers.

GPORTAL Connector Plugin

Our first joint communication is an interview about the topic of multiplayer infrastructure in the Unreal Engine Dev Blog. There we discuss questions such as:

  • How early in the development process a studio should start to focus on their servers
  • Typical failures studios encounter when developing server based multiplayer modes
  • What the GPORTAL Connector plugin offers and for who it is worthwhile
  • For studios of which size this is relevant
  • Why we started to offer a plugin

If you are interested, just read into the article! In any case we are damn proud and will continue to work hard to provide the best possible multiplayer gaming experience to you and every gamer out there!
