Palworld 1.0 is here, and it’s not just about new Pals. The full release brings new areas, a whopping 72 new Pals, new endgame systems, new weapons, and much more. On the GPORTAL Blog, we’re taking a look at the Palworld 1.0 patch notes and covering the most important changes.

Palworld 1.0: Release and Facts

Palworld officially left Early Access behind on July 10, 2026, and didn’t just roll out a simple content patch—it released a massive update that affects nearly every aspect of the game.

Key facts about the Palworld 1.0 update:

  • 72 new Pals
  • More than 200 revamped partner skills
  • A new sky region called “Sunreach”
  • The World Tree as a new story and endgame area
  • New maximum level cap of 80
  • New systems called Awakening and Mutation
  • 13 new weapons
  • 44 new accessories
  • New voice chat for dedicated servers
  • Revamped raid system
  • Extensive changes to the world, combat, building, and base management

72 new Pals, along with changes

Palworld 1.0 has, of course, also introduced new Pals to the game. These include 47 completely new Pals and 25 new variants of existing Pals. This brings the total number of Pals in Palworld to 287, spread across the new Sunreach region, the World Tree, and other areas. Pocketpair has also revamped abilities, partner skills, work stats, and breeding mechanics.

Over 200 Partner Skills have been revised

Another major change concerns Partner Skills. New abilities have been added, and the skills of more than 200 Pals have been revised.

Since many of the partner skills now display specific percentage values, you can better assess how powerful an effect actually is. In most cases, partner skills from identical Pals no longer stack multiple times. This is intended to make teams with five identical Support Pals less dominant and to encourage more diverse groups.

Additional New Features in the Palworld 1.0 Update

Sunreach: A New Group of Islands Above the Clouds

The largest new area is called Sunreach. Here, you won’t find a normal island, but rather a group of floating islands above Palpagos. There, you’ll discover new Pals, new bosses, and special ores. The new Palworld Sunreach region isn’t just a simple new island—it’s an area that features new enemies and boss battles, spawns new Pals for you, and surprises you with numerous other new features.

World Tree: Finally More Than Just Decoration

This massive tree has been one of the most striking and captivating features since the game’s Early Access launch. For a long time, it was out of reach, but with Palworld 1.0, it finally became a key part of the game.

In the Palworld World Tree, you’ll find, among other things, new enemies and Pals, major story revelations, challenges, Radiant Gems for the Awakening system, and much more. The mystery surrounding the battles in the Palworld Towers is also unveiled, and the game’s story is explained. But be careful—this area shouldn’t be entered without preparation; it’s definitely part of the endgame.

New Level Cap and Progression

The maximum Palworld Level increases to 80

With Palworld 1.0, the level cap has been raised to 80. At the same time, there are, of course, new technologies to unlock that revolve around the ancient civilization. By the way, your current player level won’t be reset, and existing experience points will be adjusted.

Capture Bonus Now Requires Only Five Pals

Before version 1.0, you had to catch a total of 12 of each Pal species to receive the capture bonus—now, just five are enough. This makes the grind less tedious and speeds up progression, especially in the early and mid-game.

Pals Are Easier to Catch

There’s also been a change to catching Pals, and the formula for the catch probability was updated in 1.0. This makes them easier to catch. Treasure chests, dungeon rewards, loot, crafting rewards, and merchant prices have been rebalanced. The gold from Palworld treasure chests has been increased by approximately two to four times.

Palworld Awakening Explained

Awakening is a new enhancement system for Pals. In the World Tree, you can find Radiant Gems. You can use these to awaken the hidden power of selected Pals.

The system is designed for endgame play and enables additional enhancements beyond existing mechanics such as Souls, passive abilities, and Condensation. The stats screen now displays separately which bonuses come from Souls and Awakening. The HP bonuses, which were previously displayed simply, are now shown much more clearly.

Palworld Mutation Explained

Since version 1.0, there has been a small chance that a mutated Pal will hatch from an egg when breeding. Mutated Pals have:

  • higher stats than the normal breeding result
  • a unique passive ability

This adds an additional endgame goal to breeding in Palworld. Pals perfectly suited for breeding are no longer necessarily enough; the mutation roll can now also determine whether your egg will hatch into a really good Pal or just another candidate for the endless Palbox.

New Cakes for Palworld Breeding

Additional cakes have been introduced for different breeding goals, allowing you to focus more on mass, stats, mutations, or passive skills:

  • Mushroom Cake: Slightly increases the chance that newly hatched Pals will have better stats
  • Vegetable Cake: Ensures that two Pal eggs are produced during a breeding attempt
  • Deluxe Vegetable Cake: Increases the likelihood of mutations and better stats
  • Special Cake: Improves the chance that multiple passive skills will be inherited

New Weapons and Equipment

Palworld 1.0 introduces 13 new weapons, many of which are crafted from new Soralite Ingots:

  • Mechanical Bow
  • Combat SMG
  • Prototype Shotgun
  • Heavy Assault Rifle
  • Tactical Grenade Launcher
  • Laser Sword
  • Beam Scatter
  • Drone Launcher

Note:
Not only have new weapons been added, but weapon slot expansions have also been introduced. This allows you to equip more tools and weapons at the same time.

For example, the Palworld armor lineup now includes a new Ancient series. This series consists of a helmet, armor, and shield. There are also 44 new accessories and the new Plasma Multicutter. This lets you harvest resources much more efficiently, even while riding.

Last but not least, there are two new Pal Spheres with high levels, designed for the powerful creatures in the new endgame areas.

Multiplayer and Dedicated Server Changes

There are also changes for dedicated servers and Palworld multiplayer. The game now features in-game voice chat, which you can use on a Dedicated Palworld server as long as you’ve enabled it in the world settings.

Furthermore, there have been additional improvements: dedicated servers are more stable, there’s a revamped server list, a new indicator for unstable connections, and simplified joining of Palworld servers—thanks to password saving, IP entry, and recovery—which are now much more convenient. Very important for streamers: a hideable server address.

New Guild Roles and Permissions

Guilds can have multiple roles, each of which can be assigned individual rights. For example, certain buildings can be restricted to selected roles. Additionally, there are notifications for logging in and out, shared markers for the guild, and other features that make life on a Palworld server easier.

Complete Overhaul of Raids

Since the Palworld update, base raids have been running on a wave system. Enemies attack in several consecutive groups. If you manage to defeat all the waves, you’ll receive a reward.

So it’s more important than ever to ensure you have strong defenses and that your worker Pals are perfectly positioned. Other changes include: Different enemies will attack depending on the region; defensive structures no longer require ammunition; and enemy levels scale based on the worker Pals in your active base.

And brand-new and handy: There’s a new NPC named Negotiation who visits your base before an upcoming raid and can call off the raid in exchange for gold. So you can choose between:

  • Defend your base and earn a reward
  • Pay gold and have peace of mind

More extensive changes thanks to Palworld 1.0

The world of Palworld has been expanded to include the Ancient Ruins, where quests and mini-games await you. These are designed to ensure you don’t just fly from fast-travel point to fast-travel point, and as a reward, you’ll receive valuable blueprints, among other things.

There are new watchtowers that, once activated, reveal the surrounding map. At the same time, each tower serves as a fast-travel point. And in addition to the new Sunreach region, there are seven more new small islands spread across three biomes:

  • Volcano
  • Desert
  • Ruins

Each of these areas also features Pals that you can only find there. So if you’re a Pal collector in Palworld, it’s definitely worth taking another tour of Palpagos.

Something has also changed regarding battles in Palworld. For example, the dodge roll while aiming has been replaced by a dash, though it remains available when not aiming. Attacks are possible during a dash, reloading is no longer interrupted by dodging actions, and movements, combat actions, and weapon swaps feel more responsive.

Wild Pals have also been revamped: dog-like Pals now bite, horse-like Pals perform charge attacks, and fast Pals can retreat or reposition themselves after an attack.

The update to the Palworld building system is also worth noting. There’s an Aquatic Construction Kit that makes it easier to build bases along coastlines and out at sea.

This opens up new possibilities for harbor bases, floating platforms, coastal fortresses, island outposts, and creative water-based builds—the sky’s the limit when it comes to creativity.

Note:
With this expansion, the boundaries of the playable world along the coastlines have also been adjusted. As a result, in rare cases, old save files may end up outside the new boundary. Pocketpair notes that in this case, the “Emergency Escape” feature in the menu can help.

For building, there are now, among other things, artificial plants that add more atmosphere, inverted sloped roofs, additional corner roof variants, new furniture, and building components in the style of the ancient civilization.

The Palworld mounts have also been improved in several areas:

  • more precise shooting
  • smoother dashes
  • better weapon switching
  • revised camera
  • natural turning
  • a distinct sense of speed
  • improved transitions between sprint and charge skills
  • greater range for interaction while riding

Is a new save file required for Palworld 1.0?

A new save file is, of course, not required. Existing saves will continue to be supported. However, the world, missions, spawn points, boss locations, progression, and balancing have changed significantly.

For old save files, among other things, your player level will not be reduced, existing experience will be adjusted, main and side missions will be partially reset, and old coastal bases may cause issues due to changed world boundaries.

If you’re returning to the game and want to experience the new story and progression from the beginning, starting fresh makes sense. However, if you have a meticulously built base or perfectly bred Pals, you can of course continue using your old save file.
