Hytale Update 6: Hardcore Mode, Mod Browser, and Major Upgrades
Hytale Update 6 is live. With Hardcore and Spectator modes, an in-game mod browser, and versatile creative tools, this update offers much more than just bug fixes.
Hytale In-Game Mod Browser
Hardcore Mode: Four Paths to Death
The new Hytale Update 6 introduces Hardcore Mode. And that doesn’t just mean “one life—tough luck.”
When creating a new world, you can choose from four options in addition to “Off”: Permadeath, Three Strikes, Nine Lives (with a shared pool of lives), and Soulbound, where a single death means the end for everyone.
Anyone who gets kicked out ends up in the new Spectator Mode and can continue watching invisibly and without interacting. This is perfect for challenges—and for that one friend who falls off a cliff somewhere every three minutes.
Hytale Mod Browser directly in-game
One of the biggest highlights of the Hytale update is the new in-game mod browser. Mods can be searched for, filtered, installed, updated, and uninstalled right from the main menu—complete with screenshots, download counts, and supported game versions.
This should significantly lower the barrier to entry for modded servers and the entire Hytale modding scene. Less file-handling stress, more fun playing the game.
Less Connection Hassle, More Multiplayer
With Update 6, it should become much easier to play directly with your friends. Players who previously needed additional tools like Tailscale or a VPN due to specific router or network configurations can now connect without all those workarounds in significantly more cases.
However, the problems aren’t completely gone yet: certain network configurations might still cause difficulties.
A huge playground for all builders
Creative players haven’t been forgotten either. New features include the Color Tool with coloring, gradient, and shading modes; savable block palette presets; and significantly larger builder selections with up to 16 million blocks.
Added to this is new entity collision technology: Players can stand on appropriately configured entities and be moved by them. This makes it much easier to implement moving platforms, traps, and significantly wilder minigame mechanics. Gyro aiming for all compatible controllers is also new.
Technical Check before Ragequitting
With Hytale Update 6, the game now requires at least OpenGL 4.1. If the game no longer launches after installing the update, the Hytale developers recommend updating your graphics drivers first.
An Update 6 hotfix was also released immediately upon launch, which, among other things, improves network routing and connections, fixes bugs in the mod browser, and resolves a startup crash on older NVIDIA graphics cards from the GeForce 400 to 700 series.

Hytale Update 6: More gameplay, less fiddling
There may not be a massive new world full of content in the new Hytale Update 6, but the developers have fine-tuned the systems that are crucial for multiplayer, mods, community servers, and future minigames.
Want to try a hardcore run with your friends or work on a modded community project? Then rent your GPORTAL Hytale server now, start a world, and check out the update for yourself.
