Dappled Forest, Camps, and more: Minecraft Wilderness Bound is here
Got your pickaxe ready? Then let’s get started: Minecraft Wilderness Bound is here. The new Minecraft update sends you straight into adventure with a new autumnal biome, abandoned camps, and the right gear.

Fall arrives with the Dappled Forest
The biggest visual highlight of the Wilderness Bound update is clearly the new Dappled Forest.
This biome brings a cozy fall atmosphere, and instead of the usual green tree canopies, you’ll find tall poplars with red, orange, and yellow leaves. You’ll also find fallen trees, red shrubs, and new shelf mushrooms in the forest. You can find the Dappled Forest near cold biomes.
The poplars introduce a new wood set to the game, which is a welcome change from the classic oak—especially for creative players.
Abandoned Camps add excitement to exploration
Fancy a little exploration tour through some old camps? Then the new Minecraft Abandoned Camps are just the thing for you.
The camps are generated in various biomes and visually blend into their surroundings. You’ll also find chests and barrels filled with loot in these camps, so it’s worth visiting them not just for the atmosphere.
Explorer Maps send you on your next adventure
Some of the abandoned camps may contain Explorer Maps. These maps can lead you to other camps, as well as to well-known locations such as ancient sites, chambers, mine shafts, woodland estates, or various pyramids and ruins.
Straw Beds as a solution for long trips
A handy new feature is the straw bed. You’re surely familiar with the problem: You’re far from your base, just want to skip the night, and so you use a normal bed. But that also shifts your spawn point. And if you happen to run into a Creeper shortly afterward, the whole thing can get pretty annoying.
The new Minecraft Straw Beds solve this problem. You can sleep on them without changing your spawn point. However, they can only be used for one night and are destroyed afterward. Three hay bales are all you need.
Cushions: Finally, a comfortable place to sit
The new Minecraft Cushions may not be the most important feature of the new update, but they’re still one that can create a nicer atmosphere. Your character can actually sit on the cushions, and they come in 16 colors. They’re perfect for campfires, taverns, living rooms, or other builds. You can craft one cushion from 3 wool slabs of the same color.
Builders get more options
Let’s move from exploration to building—and here, too, the Minecraft update has a lot to offer. In addition to the new poplar wood, there are new variants for existing materials. Wool and concrete now come in stair and slab forms, making it much easier to create detailed furniture, roofs, modern buildings, or decorative structures.
Off into the wilderness
Minecraft Wilderness Bound brings an autumnal vibe, abandoned camps with exciting loot, straw beds for on the go, and more possibilities for passionate builders.
