In Dune: Awakening, you play in a modified version of the familiar Dune universe. It's still all about the precious Spice, but the Fremen have disappeared and Paul Atreides was never born. Lady Jessica has obeyed the Bene Gesserit and given birth to a girl, and Duke Leto Atreides has survived the attack on Arrakeen and is fighting the Harkonnen over Arrakis for said precious Spice.
