Enshrouded 1.0 Save Game: Will Your Progress Be Preserved?

Will your Enshrouded 1.0 save be preserved?

Currently, there’s no information indicating that existing Enshrouded worlds or characters will be deleted once version 1.0 is released. Keen Games has also not announced a wipe for older saves so far.

So for now, you can keep your Enshrouded save file—with all the hours you’ve put into it—and don’t have to worry about it—at least not if you have a backup.

Things that will be reset with Enshrouded 1.0

There is, in fact, one thing that will be reset with the Enshrouded 1.0 update: the skill tree.

One thing is certain: skill points will be reset with version 1.0. The reason is simple—there are new skills and changes to existing ones. Your points won’t be lost, but you’ll have to redistribute them. So be sure to redistribute your points before you rush out of your base full of excitement, pull your first enemy, and then wonder why your build suddenly isn’t effective anymore.

Your character isn’t tied to your world

It’s important to understand the distinction and know exactly what gets saved in Enshrouded.

On a Dedicated Enshrouded Server, your world’s progress is stored on the server. Your character, on the other hand, is saved on your own client. Enshrouded characters can also switch between different servers while keeping all their stats and gear.

For you, this means that your world’s save file and your character are two different things. This is especially handy if you want to start a new Enshrouded 1.0 world with your crew. Choose between using your existing character with good progress or starting over from scratch.

Is a backup important before Enshrouded 1.0?

Absolutely! There are still many players who don’t regularly back up their save files and are left with nothing if problems arise.

That’s why an extra backup is especially recommended before a major update. Keen Games also strongly suggests making a copy beforehand whenever changes are made to save files.

Do I have to start over for Enshrouded 1.0?

No, not necessarily. Starting over might still be worth it if:

• you want to experience everything from the beginning with your friends and get everyone back on the same page
• you want to experience the revamped skills, combat, and other changes right from the start
• it’s been a while since your last playthrough with your crew, and you’d rather all start from the same point again

For technical reasons, however, Keen Games itself has not announced a reset.

Your Enshrouded save file is safe for now

So for now, you don’t need to worry about your Enshrouded 1.0 save file. Keen Games hasn’t announced a wipe yet, and your existing world won’t necessarily be erased and replaced with a new one. Only the skill tree will be reset, but you can redistribute your points right away.

Just before the update, we’d still recommend making a backup so that everything is safe in case of any issues and you don’t lose anything. If you want to start fresh with your friends anyway, you can rent your own Enshrouded server on GPORTAL and make Embervale permanently accessible for all of you.
