Ready for new adventures? For the first time in the history of FS25, you can not only work in the fields and feed animals, but also venture into the water and cast your line for a catch. Find out how fishing works in FS25, where you can fish, and everything else you need to know in the GPORTAL blog.
Find the right fishing spots for you
In Kinlaig, you'll encounter different types of water, including calm mountain lakes, clear and idyllic rivers that wind through the landscape, and of course the open sea. If your goal when fishing in FS25 is relaxation and fun, then all you need to do is find a nice quiet spot on the shore in Kinlaig. There you can comfortably throw out your line, enjoy the surroundings and beautiful sunsets, and recover from the stresses of everyday work.
If you're more of a professional, you can also take a boat out to the open sea. There you'll find larger fish stocks and special fishing areas that promise better yields. After some time and with a little experience, you'll discover real hotspots where the fish bite more frequently, significantly increasing your chances of a good catch. However, keep in mind that not every body of water is suitable for every species of fish or for fishing in general. The depth, current, and salinity of the water can have a significant impact on your success. When you meet Alasdair later in Farming Simulator 25, he can tell you more about this.
Starter equipment for fishing in FS25
Don't worry, before you start thinking that you need a whole bunch of equipment to go fishing in Farming Simulator 25, that's not the case. If you want to try it out for yourself, you can simply buy a fishing rod in the dealer menu – it costs €150. With the fishing rod, you then go to a suitable spot by the water and cast your line. Fishing itself is like a little mini-game: you hold down the button to determine the casting distance, and as soon as a fish bites, you have to reel it in quickly. A small symbol helps you with this, but if you press too early or too late, the fish is gone. With a little practice, however, it becomes child's play. Once the fish has taken the bait, the little battle between you and the fish begins – timing and finesse are key here. Fishing is definitely a lot of fun in FS25 and is a new game mechanic that expands the game.

When you've had enough of relaxing fishing on the quiet shore, you can start building an entire fishing empire. The Highlands Fishing DLC for the FS25 provides you with fish farms and complete systems. Build tanks or floating enclosures, feed and care for your fish, and make sure the water is always clean and fresh. Salmon and trout are the two species of fish that thrive in FS25, and they grow slowly until you can harvest and sell them.

Alasdair – your fishing mentor
GIANTS Software has given fishing in FS25 a face with a history in the form of the new NPC Alasdair. The long-established Scotsman with a gray beard and a relaxed disposition will introduce you to the world of fishing, and no one else could show you the ropes as well as he can. Alasdair knows every rock on the coast, every fishing spot, and of course, he knows everything there is to know about fish. In addition to the important information he will give you, you will also learn from his life through little anecdotes and funny stories. With Alasdair, you get a face to the new mechanics in FS25, which is much more personal than a run-of-the-mill tutorial.
Relaxed fishing or high-quality production
Once you've caught your first fish, you'll probably decide right away whether you want to remain a relaxed angler or move on to large-scale production. You can sell your catch directly or have it processed into higher-quality products. Prices vary depending on the type and quality of fish, of course, but you already know that from other FS25 products.
