Things are getting cozy again with the latest update, “Bloom and Blight” for Aloft. From reworks for entire game systems to new content, everything is included in the biggest update yet for the survival game. We'll tell you what's in it.

It's even cozier above the clouds

The developers at Aloft have taken a lot of feedback from the community to heart and are changing a number of game systems with this update to make them more accessible, understandable, and rewarding. At the top of the list is the progression for new items you need to build your base. There are now 3 tech trees for these, where you can clearly see what to expect next and unlock what you need in a targeted manner. You no longer have to search for objects in the game world at random.

This makes it easier to build your dream base or unlock the object you need to reach your next milestone. A very good change.

Ecosystem 2.0

The core element of gameplay is restoring ecosystems on the many islands. Until now, this has often been a checklist that you simply worked through. But the developers are changing this with all kinds of adjustments to make it more intuitive. The biggest change in this area is the new “Life Saplings” and “Life Trees,” which you can find on completely dried-up islands.

You can revive these islands through a series of mini-games and, in the end, you'll even control the wind of life itself to green them up. As a reward, you'll receive “Dream Fruits” for crafting and, at the end, “Wind Portals” that allow you to travel between regions particularly quickly.

But of course, the update brings many more changes to the game that you should definitely try out.

The fungal plague is spreading

The cloudy world of Aloft is becoming more dangerous as new strains of fungus spread. You will encounter these “Sportox” and “Flogade“ strains in the “Fallen Heights” and “Red Cliffs.” Not only are they stronger versions of their relatives, but they also have additional special powers that make it harder for you to fight them.

But of course, there aren't just stronger enemies, there are also new weapons for you to fight them with. There are the “Windstone” and “Sawbone” variants, which not only deal more damage, but also come with special bonuses such as a larger combo window or a particularly powerful attack at the end of a combo. So go hunting for resources and arm yourself against the new mushroom strains.
