Finally the curtain is lifted, developer Stunlock Studios has finally revealed the name of the upcoming content update and also revealed many new details about the new area and other features.

New adventures await

"Secrets of Gloomrot" is the name of the upcoming update and of course we travel to the name-giving Gloomrot in the update, a new area that lies above the Dunlay Farmlands and is also about the same size as this area.

In Gloomrot, which is further divided into Gloomrot South and Gloomrot North, we can expect several new challenges, enemies and new landscapes in which we can build our mighty (now multi-level) castle.

According to the developers, we will encounter deformed experiments and "technical wonders" in the area. We're curious to see what kind of creatures we'll encounter. The new boss fights are also sure to be challenging again and a real feast for the eyes.

Rise high and as simple as never before

We've waited a long time and the developers have also addressed the topic in the blogs before, but now the time has come: we can expand our castle to new heights by inserting proper staircases within our walls and thus linking multiple floors.

When creating our gloomy halls, we have so much more possibilities to create exactly the dream castle that suits our vampire. Such a large castle over several floors naturally also extends the walking distances, which is why we can find a recipe so that we can build local teleporters within a castle. With this we can then teleport from floor 1 to floor 2, for example. Very handy! We're really looking forward to this new freedom and to giving our creativity free rein.

To make sure that creativity works out in the end, the developers want to simplify the general navigation and the selection of objects in the building menu. Currently, you still have to scroll through long lists of objects, but with the update, the developers want to change this to a "modular system". Fortunately, we will be able to try out exactly how this will feel in the end as early as May.

In their latest dev blog, the developers also shed light on a few technical hurdles and backgrounds that had to be overcome in order to make it possible to create multiple floors in the end. The biggest problem, according to Stunlock Studios, was that V Rising originally functioned as a "2D world" so to speak (despite the 3D characters and world) and they now had to completely turn that around. If you want all the technical details, we recommend you take a look at the developers' blog.

The future for vampires looks bloody good!

Vampire fans will agree that the new update "Secrets of Gloomrot" will bring a lot of new content that will keep us busy for many hours. But what will happen after that? Developer Stunlock Studios has an answer to that as well.

There are currently 3 major content updates planned, with Update 2 probably being the full release and Update 3 further content after leaving Early Access. Of course, it's not impossible that there will be more content after Update 3, but for now the roadmap is focused on these 3 updates.

Of course, we don't know yet what exactly the content of update 2 and 3 will be and it will probably take some time until the developers will tell us, but in the meantime we can pass the time with "Secrets of Gloomrot". The update is currently planned for May, so we don't have to wait much longer.
