The new “Storm's Brewing” update for 7 Days to Die brings a wind of change to the zombie apocalypse - in the truest sense of the word. An adventurous combination of dynamic weather effects, new enemies, optimized biomes and an overhaul of the skill system makes for a great evolution of 7 Days to Die.

Release date of the 7 Days to Die Storms Brewing Update

The original date for the 7 Days to Die Storm's Brewing V2.0 update release was scheduled for April 15th of this year. However, this was postponed indefinitely a few weeks ago by 7 Days to Die developers The Fun Pimps - the official statement mentions several weeks. However, new enemies and a dynamic weather system have been promised to make up for the extended wait. We would also estimate that the update will probably still be released in spring 2025 and of course we hope so, because we are absolutely excited about the numerous new features!

Dynamic weather system - the heart of the update

The Fun Pimps will definitely make players' hearts beat faster with the new dynamic weather system. The heavy storms no longer just have a cosmetic effect, but have an impact on the game and its mechanics. Each biome receives an individual type of storm, which poses a real threat and has a direct impact on the environment - so seek shelter as quickly as possible or build a safe place to hide. Rain and snow will also continue to exist, but so far these weather conditions are not expected to have any noticeable impact on the game mechanics.

Prepare yourself for new zombie chaos

Not only will the more severe weather conditions cause you even more trouble in 7 Days to Die, but The Fun Pimps are also introducing new and, above all, high-ranking zombies that pose a serious threat for added fun. They will be similar to the previously known green radiation zombie and are called “Charged Blue” and “Infernal Orange”. The two new groupings have individual behaviors and are primarily intended to make the later game more exciting.

Withstand the elements of the biomes

With the Storms Brewing update, the biomes will undergo a radical change and each one will be characterized by specific dangers and unique conditions - experience 7 Days to Die from a new perspective and explore your surroundings.

  • You will clearly feel the effects of each biome: Whether cold, heat, smoke or radiation; the next danger lurks everywhere
  • Stock up on materials that give you temporary resistance to the biome elements through buffs - or be extra diligent and complete challenges that give you permanent immunity to elemental damage
  • Find high-quality loot in the numerous biomes, which serve as an incentive for further exploration tours
  • With the 7 Days to Die 2.0 version, new zombies will appear in the biomes, including resonant names such as the new “Desert Plague Spitter” and “Snow Frost Claw”, which exhibit unique behaviors

More flexibility in character development

Not only are there new zombies and dynamic weather to marvel at in the new 7 Days to Die 2.0 update, but the attributes and general character development have not been forgotten either:

  • There's a new tab that gives you a whole new world of customization and includes general perks that can be unlocked without being tied to specific attributes
  • The perks of all attributes have been renewed or greatly improved
  • A separate new book series has been added for the Sledgehammer class
  • Each attribute gets a new Mastery Perk Set - so further development will be more than worthwhile

Technical and visual improvements

In addition to the incredibly exciting new content in 7 Days to Die, version 2.0 naturally also brings all kinds of technical and visual improvements, ensuring that both performance and level design are optimized.

  • Over 50 new POIs: The revised biomes don't provide you with enough new destinations? How about over 50 new points of interest to provide variety?
  • Revised POIs: Work has also been done on the existing points of interest, as the challenging ones in particular have been changed and be sure to watch out for bony hands that want to grab you by the feet
  • Danger on the ground: Zombies have been given more room to maneuver, where they can now spawn and crawl out of smaller areas
  • Trees and foliage: There are also some changes in nature, not only for better performance, but also to make the visuals even more realistic
  • Overhaul of Navezgane: Biomargins and trader POIs have been changed here to ensure better gameplay
  • New audio: More immersive than ever with realistic footstep sounds and new audio for the biome zombies
  • New outfits: Choose wisely when it comes to stats, but you can influence the visuals with new outfits - Twitch drops will be back for the release of 7 Days to Die 2.0, so keep your eyes open!
  • RWG overhaul: Of course, the Random World Generation hasn't been sleeping either and the position and number of POIs have been improved with the upcoming update. The placement of roads has also been revised
  • Spawn near friends: When you start a new game, you can spawn near friends to start directly into the zombie apocalypse together

Neverending Story: Crossplay

Questions about what is probably the biggest wish of the 7 Days to Die community keep coming up: When will there finally be crossplay with consoles? The Fun Pimps have probably developed nightmares on the subject by now, but they have once again stated that they are currently unable to say when and if crossplay will ever be available for consoles on dedicated servers. As long as there is no approval for each platform, the 7 Days to Die developers cannot do anything.

Great update with many changes

The Storms Brewing Update will bring new zombies, a new weather system and many other changes to 7 Days to Die, making survival in the zombie apocalypse even more challenging and exciting. And even if the release is delayed by a few weeks, it will certainly be worth the wait. Until then, you can get your own GPORTAL 7 Days to Die server and immerse yourself in the world of the undead and flesh-eating creatures!
