7 Days to Die Storms Brewing: Beginner vs. Pro
With the new 7 Days to Die 2.0 update called Storms Brewing, a fresh breeze is blowing through the apocalyptic world - or rather: a full-blown storm! The new weather effects, dangerous biomes and mutated zombies bring plenty of excitement and adventure to the game. But what does this mean for beginners vs. pros?
The 7 Days to Die newbie - amazement, panic and a learning curve
If you're completely new to 7 Days to Die or only played it briefly years ago, then the new Storms Brewing update will give you a huge fire under your bum. The most important tips for anyone just starting out or who hasn't touched 7 Days to Die for a long time:
1. Take the weather seriously, but don't panic
The new dynamic weather system in 7 Days to Die not only provides great visual highlights and amazement, it also has a strong influence on your gameplay. Depending on the weather situation, your visibility will deteriorate, your stamina will no longer be the same as before, the behavior of some zombies will change and, last but not least, the temperature will also cause problems.
How you should deal with the weather
- Find safe shelter as soon as dark cloud formations start to gather
- Torches, campfires or suitable clothing must be procured as quickly as possible and preferably immediately available - no matter where you are
- Avoid biomes that you cannot (yet) assess
2. Distribute perks with a system
With the new 7 Days to Die perk system, you'll quickly realize that it's pointless to simply distribute points randomly and without thinking. Instead, take a strategic approach and specialize in certain perks.
- Choose your playstyle: melee, ranged or the smartest of them all?
- Make sure you read the descriptions of the perks thoroughly and carefully - some of the skills only work together late on and may sound good at first, but won't get you anywhere
- Especially as a beginner in 7 Days to Die, you should focus on stamina, life regeneration and the basics of combat
3. Zombies are no longer just annoying, but smarter and more brutal
The zombies are also being overhauled with the 7 Days to Die 2.0 update and the new Charged Blue Zombie and the Infernal Orange Zombie in particular will kill you incredibly quickly if you're not prepared. The Charged Blue Zombie is incredibly aggressive, while the Infernal Orange will reduce you to ashes with fire attacks.
- Pay attention to the noises around you! The Fun Pimps have come up with a new sound design, so it's not just the weather noises that make sense, but also the screeching zombies and footsteps
- Don't go into fights blindly - better dodge or run away until you're strong enough for gruesome zombie fights
- Use your surroundings! Whether ledges, doors, wooden frames, take anything that slows down zombies with you
4. Functional base instead of architectural masterpiece
Yes, we understand - having a cool base is very tempting, but you should pay particular attention to functionality and safety at the beginning. Stability and function are particularly important for your first base.
- It's better to start small, functional and defensive - you'll need a safe spot before you can build huge structures with sneaky traps
- Use raised platforms such as towers or buildings with stairs, which ideally cover all viewing angles - this provides security against zombie hordes
- As soon as you have collected the first and enough resources and are ready: Think about power, traps and reinforcements
The 7 Days to Die expert - analysis, efficiency and control
As an old veteran, you have probably already (more or less) survived hundreds, if not thousands of in-game days in 7 Days to Die, you know virtually every POI inside out and the zombie hordes barely raise a tired smile. But the Storms Brewing update is also fresh data for you as a pro and provides more variety with new challenges.
1. Rethink previous builds and perks
The new perk system in 7 Days to Die is not a nice extra, but one of the absolute main components of the game. Many perks interact differently and new “Mastery” levels provide even more depth.
- Analyze directly which of the perk lines best support you and your style of play
- Test out whether your preferred build still works or whether you can adapt or improve something
- When minimizing your weaknesses and maximizing your strengths, you should consider the new dangers
2. Use the weather for strategic purposes
If you think the new weather system, including storms and thunder, is just for decoration, you're wrong. For 7 Days to Die pros, the new weather events can be used specifically and strategically. Observing the sky is particularly worthwhile for certain POIs.
- Use the rain and darkness to do stealth runs
- You should avoid running too long distances during heavy storms - especially with snow - as your stamina will suffer. This in turn can lead to unforeseen and unpleasant situations
- You should include raids in your schedule: Plan them depending on the biomes. Different biomes naturally require the right preparation and equipment
3. Study the new POIs and enemies
With the Storms Brewing update, new and more difficult POIs come into play, bringing with them complex paths and other ways of defense - but also new and valuable rewards. The new zombies are not only stronger, they also spawn particularly frequently under certain conditions.
- Get to know the spawn patterns and zombie types - so you can minimize the risk in dangerous situations beforehand
- Customize your equipment and aim it at specific enemies to avoid unpleasant surprises
- Use ranged weapons, cameras or even drones to spy out clear zones in advance
4. Get your base in shape
If you are a professional in 7 Days to Die and have several locations or even just one base, you should definitely overhaul and update them. The new weather effects, the new zombie behavior and, last but not least, the new sound design will probably have an impact on your existing buildings.
- Make sure that your base is clearly visible even in absolutely poor line of sight during a storm
- Windows, doors and electrics should be reinforced to withstand any weather effects
- After you have studied the behavior of new zombies: If necessary, react with multi-level defense points so that they are not directly under your nose as they first break through
