How to Add Mods to your Vintage Story Server

Find and Download Mods

Start by visiting the official Vintage Story mod repository: https://mods.vintagestory.at
Browse or search for the mods you want to use

Important: Before downloading, check the mod’s requirements and dependencies to ensure it’s compatible with your server version and any other installed mods.

Choose a Download Method

You have two download options:

1-Click Install

Installs the mod directly to your local game client (Recommended for mods that are required client-side)

Manual Download

Downloads the mod as a .zip file to your PC (This is recommended for server-side mods, which must be uploaded to your GPORTAL server)

Tip: Create a folder on your desktop to store downloaded mods for quick access during upload.

Prepare for Upload

Before uploading mods, stop your server in the GPORTAL interface. Uploading files while the server is running can cause issues or corrupt data

Upload the Mod to Your Server

You can upload your mod using either the GPORTAL File Manager or an FTP client like FileZilla.

Option A: Upload via GPortal File Manager

In your GPortal panel, select File Manager
Navigate to the mods folder
Click Upload and select your .zip mod file from your PC

Option B: Upload via FTP (e.g., FileZilla)

In your GPORTAL panel, go to Status > Access Data to find your FTP credentials
Launch FileZilla and connect using the login details
Navigate to the mods directory
Drag and drop your .zip mod file into the folder

Restart Your Server

Once the mod has been uploaded, restart your server from the GPORTAL panel to apply the changes
