Vintage Story – How do I upload my savegame?
Step 1: Locate Your Save File (Local PC)
- Go to your Vintage Story save folder on your PC
- The default location is:
C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\VintagestoryData\Saves\worldname
Hint: Replace YourUsername with your actual Windows username
Hint: Replace worldname with the name of your saved world - Copy the entire save folder (it should contain files like map.db, playerdata.db, and world.db)
Step 2: Access Your G-Portal Server via FTP
- Log into your GPORTAL account
- Find your Vintage Story server under “My Servers”
- Stop the server before uploading the save to prevent corruption
- Access FTP:
- In the GPORTAL web panel, find the FTP login credentials under “FTP Access”
- Use an FTP client like FileZilla (recommended) or WinSCP
- Enter the following details into your FTP client:
Host
Username
Password
Port
Hint: All Infos can be found within the GPORTAL webinterface
- Connect to the server via FTP
Step 3: Upload the Save to Your Server
- Once connected, navigate to the save folder on your server:
/vintagestory/saves/ - Upload your world folder from Step 1 into this directory
- Ensure the entire save folder is copied and matches the original structure
Step 4: Assign the Save to Your Server
- Go back to the GPORTAL control panel
- Under Basic Settings, find the option for World Name
- Change it to match the name of your uploaded save folder exactly
- Save changes
Step 5: Start the Server
- Restart your Vintage Story server from the G-Portal panel
- Join the server to confirm that the world loaded correctly
