Palworld Crude Oil Guide: What you need to know

The Palworld Crude Oil Locations

So far, you can find the new crude oil in Palworld at only one location, namely on the new island of Sakurajima. As soon as you arrive on the island, you have to look out for black areas surrounded by flat stones. On Sakurajima, you will find crude oil mainly in the center and slightly to the southeast. Once you have uncovered the map of Sakurajima, you will recognize all crude oil locations by black spots.

The preparation for crude oil extraction

Even if finding an oil deposit involves a little work and effort, the real work only begins when you want to extract the crude oil. This requires what is known as a crude oil extractor, which needs a number of structures and precautions in order to function and extract crude oil efficiently.

As the crude oil extractor is a structure, it must be built in and near a Pal Box. This means that you must first build a base in the immediate vicinity of an oil deposit, which also has a power source in the form of a generator. To ensure that power is always available for use at the generator, you need to place a suitable Pal next to it. Any pal that has at least level 3 for generating electricity is suitable for this. Orserk with level 4 for generating electricity and Grizzbolt with level 3 are best suited for this.

Production and use of the crude oil extractor

To be able to produce the crude oil extractor, you must have unlocked level 50 in the technology menu and need 2 technology points to unlock the recipe. Of course, you will also need some high-quality resources to assemble this impressive structure:

• 250x Pal Metal Ingot
• 50x Circuit Board

Once you have successfully produced the crude oil extractor, you need to place the structure over an oil deposit. This is very easy to do in the construction menu under Production. This is exactly what the free and flat stones are for, so that the extractor can be placed without any problems. Now, of course, you still have to provide a power source, which, as mentioned above, is best realized by a generator.

The large generator was also added with the Sakurajima update and must be unlocked in the technology menu from level 49 with 4 Ancient Technology Points. You will need the following resources to produce the large generator:

• 200x Pal Metal Ingot
• 200x Electric Organ (can be obtained from Electric Pals or traders)

Note: In addition to the method for extracting crude oil with the extractor, you can also collect small amounts of crude oil manually. You can do this by killing Pals such as Kikits and Sootseer, which are located on Sakurajima Island. Or you can go to the absolutely dangerous oil rig (Oil Rig Stronghold) and, with a bit of luck, get crude oil there. However, you should be aware that crude oil is an endgame resource. And the oil rig is also not recommended if you don't have the right level and strength.

What you need Palworld crude oil for

Crude oil is not only a difficult and dangerous resource to obtain, it is also necessary for all kinds of high-quality items so that you can produce them. The most important resource will be Plasteel. Plasteel is needed very late in the game to build various items. These include, for example, strong armor, saddles and weapons that will make your opponents turn pale. In addition to Plasteel, crude oil in Palworld is essential for various types of ammunition, for example.
