Getting the V Rising longbow and whip
With the latest major update to the full version of V Rising, all kinds of new things have been added to the game. These include two new weapons and we explain how you can obtain and craft them in the GPORTAL blog.
How to unlock longbow crafting
As with every new item that you can craft in V Rising, you will first need the corresponding instructions. For the longbow, you'll find it on the V Blood Boss called Lidia the Chaos Archer, not to be confused with Keely the Frost Archer. Lidia is level 30 and can be found roaming the Farbane Woods. As with any other V Blood Boss, you can of course activate Lidia's blood trail at the blood altar in your castle to track her down.
Unlike the whip, you can get the longbow earlier in the game, but you shouldn't underestimate the fight against Lidia the Chaos Archer. She has some attacks that can cause a lot of damage thanks to fire, so it's better to keep your distance and try to fight her from a suitable distance. If you are more of a melee fighter, you should wait until she turns invisible and tries to sneak up on you. Despite her invisibility, you will be able to recognize her reasonably well from her blurry outline and take advantage of the moment to attack Lidia in close combat.
How to unlock whip crafting
Above, we told you how to get the instructions for crafting the longbow, and the process is almost exactly the same for the whip. You need to find the V Blood Boss called Domina the Blade Dancer, level 60, in Rustlock Village in southern Gloomrot. In addition to some not-so-happy minions around her, you will mainly have to deal with her fast and dynamic attacks.
When fighting Domina the Blade Dancer, it is important that you can dodge well and hit quickly. Initially, she will try to knock you out with electricity, so dodging is still a very good option to avoid dying prematurely. Things get really uncomfortable when Domina starts to hover in the air and attack from her safety, so you'll have to dodge really well and quickly. As soon as she lands again, you can then give her the full broadside of attacks and finally you have to dodge her extremely fast-firing electric shocks, which really cause a lot of damage.
Crafting the longbow and whip
Now that you have unlocked the instructions for crafting the longbow and whip, you need to have the right resources and crafting station ready for each longbow. Below we list all the longbows, the required resources and the corresponding stations:
- Copper longbow: 12x planks and 16x copper ingots are required for production, as well as the simple workbench
- Merciless copper longbow: The copper longbow upgrade must first either be unlocked as a recipe on the research table or purchased through one of the shady merchants. You will then need 1x copper longbow, 12x whetstone, 4x leather and 2x crude amethyst to make it. The simple workbench is also sufficient for this
- Iron longbow: Now you need a forge, which you can build after defeating the boss Quincey the Bandit King. You will need 12x iron ingots and 8x planks as resources
- Merciless iron longbow: The better version of the Iron Longbow is also made from 1x Iron Longbow, 4x greater blood essence, 4x reinforced plank and 1x regular amethyst at the forge
- Dark silver longbow: For this epic longbow you need an anvil, which you can unlock through Cyril the Cursed Smith and then craft with 20x spectral dust, 12x reinforced plank and 1x primal blood essence. For the dark silver longbow, you will then need additional and fairly high-quality resources: 12x dark silver ingot, 8x reinforced plank and 1x primal blood essence
- Sanguine longbow: This longbow is an even better upgrade to the dark silver longbow. However, you will need to collect some very rare and sometimes hard-to-find resources. In addition to the dark silver longbow, you also need 12x gold ingots, 1x primal blood essence and 1x flawless amethyst
- Rare ancestor longbow: This is where it becomes a little more difficult to obtain this longbow, as you must first find the destroyed rare ancestor longbow. This is the case, for example, with high-level V Blood Bosses or as loot after successfully completing Rift Incursion Events at level 1. You can find everything about the new V Rising Rift Incursion Events in the GPORTAL Blog. Now you need an Ancestral Forge to repair the destroyed weapons and upgrade them at the same time
- Epic ancestor longbow: To obtain this powerful longbow, you have to proceed in a similar way to the rare ancestor longbow, but one difference is that you cannot upgrade it here, for example. You can obtain the destroyed longbow from level 2 Rift Incursion events, even higher level V Blood Bosses and you can buy it from the northern vampire merchant for a whole lot of Greater Stygian Shards
- Oaksong: The last and absolutely most legendary longbow in V Rising goes by the name of Oaksong and the path to being able to call this longbow yours is, shall we say, not that easy. With a little or a lot of luck, you will need to obtain the matching Oaksong fragment during a level 2 Rift Incursion event. In addition to this fragment, you will also need the Sanguine Longbow and 4x onyx tears. You can then craft the Oaksong Longbow at the Ancestral Forge and you will be in possession of the strongest and best longbow in V Rising
Now that we have listed all the longbows and how to make them, let's move on to the V Rising whips:
- Iron whip: The first whip can be crafted at the forge and requires 12x iron ingots and 8x planks
- Merciless iron whip: The improved iron whip is also crafted at the forge and requires 4x greater blood essence, 4x reinforced plank and 1x regular mist stone in addition to the iron whip. You can purchase the recipe for the merciless iron whip from the rural bookseller
- Dark silver whip: Now you need the anvil again and also 12x dark silver ingots, 8x reinforced plank and 1x primal blood essence
- Sanguine Whip: Before you can make this whip, you first need the recipe, which you unlock by defeating Simon Belmont. You can then use the anvil to craft the sanguine whip with 12x gold ingots, 1x primal blood essence, 1x flawless mist stone and the dark silver whip
- Rare Ancestor Whip: We already know the game, as with the longbows, you need to get the destroyed rare ancestor whip for this, which you get again while completing level 1 Rift Incursions or from high-level V Blood Bosses
- Epic Ancestral Whip: Similar to the Epic Ancestral Longbow, you will also need the destroyed Epic Ancestral Whip, which you can then repair at the Ancestral Forge. You can find the destroyed whip again at level 2 Rift Incursion events and very high-level V Blood Bosses
- Morning Star Whip: Now we have arrived at the last whip and weapon and it is none other than the Morning Star Whip. With a lot of luck and patience, you can get the right morning star fragment from level 2 Rift Incursion events. Otherwise you will need 4x onyx tears and the sanguine whip
