Everyone knows that a glass of warm milk with honey is the best medicine when it comes to a cold.

Minecraft Honey: Liquid Golden Goodness

What does that have to do with Minecraft? Not a lot, honestly. But one thing stays true, in this world as in Minecraft: Honey in the house is never a bad thing, really. Come with us on a magical journey full of learning, wonder and excitement, as we explore the liquid golden goodness that is Minecraft honey.

Honey in Minecraft

But where does Minecraft honey come from? Bees. Itā€™s bees that pollinate flowers. Want to know more? We already explored the buzzing little animals called bees. This isnā€™t about bees, it's about the MC honey. But really, we wonā€™t linger on bees, so let's get toā€¦

Minecraft: How to Collect Honey

Luckily for you, there is more than one way to get some Minecratf honey on your hands. Or rather, in your inventory. The most straightforward way is to go to a beehive or nest, take an empty bottle and use it on said beehive. Quick, easy, angers the bees inside. But well, what can you do?

Put some fire underneath the beehive, for example. This will relax the bees and prevent them from attacking you. Also, be careful which nest you decide to harvest. It is possible to find nests that donā€™t even contain enough Minecraft honey to fill a honey bottle. Minecraft is generous in showing you the right signals, however. If you see honey dripping out the nest, itā€™s harvesting time! And no, you cannot collect the dripping Minecraft honey in a cauldron. Sadly, itā€™s not lava weā€™re talking about.

Finally, when you attempt to harvest honey, Minecraft gives you an achievement once you do it without angering any bees. Itā€™s called ā€˜Bee Our Guestā€™, which is rather fitting a name. Of course, achievements arenā€™t really that useful gameplay-wise, but they can be a source of pride.

The Humble Honey Bottle

The Minecraft honey bottle is the most common way to store what the bees have produced. But there are other ways, to. For instance, when you combine four Minecraft honey bottles, you can unlock one of the legendary, the infamous, the all-encompassing honey blocks!

4x honey bottle = 1x honey block

This massive golden beauty unlocks more options you wouldā€™ve ever thought Minecraft honey capable of having. Especially when it comes to redstone circuits, honey blocks fulfill a very special role, but more on that later.

Before that, we have to look at the logistics behind Minecraft honey. Wait, that sounds boring, you say? But you can stack up to 64 honey blocks in a single chest slot, isnā€™t that amazing? Although you probably shouldnā€™t use that chest or barrel for anything else because that honey is sticky as heck. Oh, you want to hear about redstone? Alright then, but weā€™ll tell you about Minecraft honey itself first, deal?

Minecraft Honey: What Is It Good for?

Just as in the real world, Minecraft honey has some interesting medical applications. To be more precise, it clears the poison status effect. That might not sound like much, but it definitely is something. I mean, just imagine getting into a fight with a pufferfish, a cave spider orā€¦ a bee, of all things. I mean, why would you get into a fight with a bee?

Meanwhile, honey blocks find a lot of use when it comes to redstone circuits. While slime is important to move objects in a certain direction, honey blocks do the exact opposite, as objects stick to them once they touch the surface of the block. With this, you can use it toā€¦ make things stick to the surfaceā€¦? We donā€™t really have a lot of uses in mind there, but you will figure it out. We believe in you, champ!

Moreover, honey blocks in particular have some interesting properties. Their ability to make things stick to their surface allows for some creative applications. You can use it as a type of elevator, by sliding down on a large pile of honey blocks. Also, you can prolong your jump forward by sliding along the sides of honey blocks. It is the Minecraft version of a wall run, so to speak.
Finally, you can also use honey blocks as a kind of cushion that reduces fall damage. Not unlike hay bales, Minecraft honey reduces the fall damage you and mobs take by 80%, which is really nothing to scoff at.

Fun Fact:
Sliding down 256 honey blocks takes exactly 74 seconds. Who tested that? Why is it exactly this number? Who knowsā€¦

As you can see, Minecraft honey might not be the most impactful thing in the cubic world. But that is okay. Not everything can employ the newest technology like torches and lanterns. Not everything can be as life-changing as the bucket. Or as sacred as obsidian. But thatā€™s okay. After all, not everything can be special. And sometimes, itā€™s the ordinary things in life that leave the biggest impact. And you can find these things on a Minecraft server from G-Portal, where the golden goodness of Minecraft honey awaits.
