Just when you thought Minecraft couldn't get any more awesome, Mojang drops another bombshell – introducing the Minecraft crafter.

Meet the New Minecraft Crafter

It's the ultimate game-changer for all you redstone engineers and automation enthusiasts out there. Ready to dive into the nuts and bolts of this shiny new toy? Grab a snack, stay hydrated while reading and enjoy the ride. Let’s get crafting with the Minecraft crafter!

What Is the Crafter in Minecraft?

The Minecraft crafter is the game’s latest utility block, rolled out in the 1.21 update, and it's here to revolutionize how we craft. Imagine having a block that automates your crafting process. No more tedious manual crafting; this bad boy takes over and does the job for you.

Here's the deal:

  • crafts items automatically when it receives the necessary materials and a redstone signal
  • features a 3x3 crafting grid, similar to a crafting table, where you can set up recipes
  • activated by redstone pulses, it ejects crafted items
  • you can control item input and crafting behavior by toggling grid slots
  • works with hoppers and droppers for inserting and removing items
  • multiple players can access the interface of the Minecraft crafter simultaneously

The last point might be especially interesting. If you play in multiplayer with your friends, it will be really helpful to craft at the same time. No waiting, no fight over who’s turn it is. It’s just like with chests and hoppers.

How to Make a Crafter in Minecraft

Crafting a Minecraft crafter might sound like a tongue twister, but it’s as simple as pie. This is the recipe for how to craft a crafter in Minecraft:

5x iron ingot + 1x crafting table + 2x redstone dust + 1x dropper = 1x crafter

You do need some things to get your hand on a Minecraft crafter, that’s true. However, it is worth it in the end. While you only need some wood for a crafting table, the rest could be a bit tricky. Still, not necessarily. Find a redstone ore block and mine it with an iron pickaxe, there you have the dust. Mine some iron and smelt it into ingots, there you go. Well, this could take some time, and depending on what else you need the ingots for, setting up an iron farm might be a good idea. Lastly, for the dropper: you already have the redstone dust and it is really not hard to find some good old cobblestone.

Remember, the Minecraft crafter is worth it! Just arrange all the ingredients in the crafting grid: the crafting table in the middle, the dropper below it, on both sides of the dropper will be the redstone dust and the other slots are iron ingots. Voilà! You’ve got yourself a Minecraft crafter.

Well Then: How to Use a Crafter in Minecraft

Using the Minecraft crafter is as intuitive as it gets. Place it on the ground, and you’ll see its user-friendly interface. It is also, to an extent, pretty similar to the normal crafting table. Here’s a quick guide:

  1. Place your materials in the top left input slots.
  2. The top right shows a preview of the crafted item.
  3. The crafted item appears in the output slots, ready to be ejected on the next redstone pulse.

Easy, right? The Minecraft crafter not only offers simultaneous crafting but makes the whole crafting easier in itself by making it an automated process.
