GPORTAL website

Questions about the GPORTAL website are answered in detail here.

GPORTAL cloud

Through the web interface, we offer a cloud instead of direct game servers. In this cloud, you can create game servers whenever you like for various games.

What is the cloud?

The advantage of the cloud is that you can create multiple game servers in a cloud and also delete them as and when you like.

Examples of using the cloud

You own a cloud with 10 slots. On this, you can run two Minecraft servers with 4 slots each, for example.

You own a cloud with 20 slots. On this, you can run two Minecraft servers with 4 slots each and a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive server with 12 slots, for example.

The servers can be reconfigured at any time during runtime. This means that the servers can be deleted, added or the number of slots can be varied as you like.

Extending slots in the cloud

  1. Log on with your GPORTAL account
  2. Click on “My Servers”
  3. Click on “Gamecloud Dashboard

How do I donate to users?

You need a GPORTAL Account to make donations and you can create one HERE.

Ask the user for their donation link. This can be found under “Account” -> “Your Settings

Upload your donation to GPORTAL or use an existing balance. Enter a description and the amount and click “Send”.

Where do I find the STEAM-64-ID?

To manage your servers as an admin, you usually need your STEAM-64-ID. You can find the ID for example on this page http://steamid.co/. There you simply enter your STEAM name and your ID will be shown.

External Tools

FTP client

To manage your savegames and mods (for e.g. Minecraft) we recommend using a FTP client. A common FTP client is FileZilla.

  • Log on to our website
  • Click on “My servers” in the left menu
  • Select the server you want
  • Click on “Status” in the left menu
  • There you will find the FTP access data, which you enter into the desired program to connect

NoteIf you delete data on the FTP server, this is permanently deleted. Make a backup before editing.

WinMTR-Logs

Under certain circumstances, our Support Team may need a WinMTR log to analyze, for example, server lags or other connection problems.

  1. Download WinMTR: https://sourceforge.net/projects/winmtr/files/WinMTR-v092.zip/download
  2. Unpack the * .ZIP file on your desktop
  3. Open the WinMTR folder and select the appropriate subdirectory
  4. Enter the IP address of the server in the “Host” field (only the IP-adress, not the port).
  5. Click on “Start” and connect to your server
  6. Let the tool run for at least 15 minutes (ideally until the issue you might experience appears)
  7. Click on “Stop
  8. Export the file by clicking on “Export Text
  9. Paste the file contents into the ticket.

Using the MySQL database

MySQL is one of the most widespread relational database management systems in the world. Here, for example, data of players, entire game scores or only mod- or plugin-relevant data is stored.

You can find the access data either in the MySQL tab (in Minecraft) or in the navigation menu under “MYSQL”.

With a click on the link at “phpMyAdmin” you get to the login page. The required data can be found in the overview.

Here you can either import files or modify existing data sets.

ImportantPlease use the database only if you are 100% sure what you are doing. Databases are not included in the normal backups and a mistake could damage the data permanently

DDos

What is a DDoS?

In Information Technology, Denial of Service (DoS) refers to the unavailability of a service that should actually be available. Although there may be several reasons for unavailability, it is usually assumed DoS is the result of congestion of infrastructure systems. This can be caused by unintentional overloads or by a malicious, and often deliberate, attack on a server, computer or other components in a data network.

If the congestion is caused by a large number of other systems, the term Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) is used.

What types of DDoS are there?

DDoS and Botnets

Malicious DDoS attacks are often (but not exclusively, see DDoS as a protest) executed through backdoor programs or similar. These backdoor programs are usually installed by computer worms on insufficiently protected computers and independently try to infect other computers in the network in order to build a botnet.

The bigger the botnet, the more likely it is that the attack will overrun even well-protected systems. The attack is controlled via IRC, HTTP or via a peer-to-peer network.

DDoS protection at GPORTAL

We rely on protection from Corero.com. We are in constant contact with the company to further adapt our filtering rules and protection to our needs.
