You want to brew a potion in Minecraft? Or do you want to know how the brewing process works in general? Here we give you a little introduction to the fine art of alchemy in Minecraft.
Minecraft: Brewing potions
First, every budding alchemist needs a brewing stand. You can either find a brewing stand (e.g., in villages near churches, in the end ship or igloos) or make one yourself. If you make it yourself, you need three cobblestones and a blaze rod.
Brewing stand recipe:
3x cobblestone + 1x blaze rod = brewing stand
After you have placed your brewing stand, a glass bottle would be very helpful. You can create these at the workbench with three glass blocks. However, glass bottles can also be obtained by fishing or killing a witch.
Glass bottle recipe
3x glass blocks = 3x glass bottles
And last but not least: To run the brewing stand actively, you need blaze powder. This serves as an energy source for the brewing stand.
So, to start brewing, you’ll need one brewing stand, three glass bottles and blaze powder.
Start brewing Minecraft potions
To start brewing, open the brewing stand and add the blaze powder in the upper left corner. Then fill the glass bottles with water and put them into the lower three boxes. Now you can put the crucial ingredient in the middle box. This will determine which potion you brew.
To have any success at all in brewing, you first need an “awkward potion”. You should therefore brew this first. For this you need nether warts, which of course you can only find in the Nether. Put this in the middle box above the glass bottles and brew your first awkward potion.
This awkward potion is the basis for almost all other potions. It is one of the so-called basic potions. These have no effect and serve only as a basis for further potions.
