The agricultural process follows a very clear and comprehensible sequence that can be divided into several phases:

  1. Prepare the soil.
  2. Plant the seeds.
  3. Wait for growth.
  4. Harvest.

All these processes are stored on the server side. This means that plant growth and farm progress are synchronized in multiplayer and – with permanently running servers – continue even when individual players are offline.

Soil Preparation – How is Hytale Farmland Created?

Not every type of soil is automatically suitable for cultivation. In order to plant crops, suitable soil must be prepared. By using an appropriate tool for soil cultivation, normal soil is converted into cultivated farmland. This change is clearly visible. Important to note:

Normal Seeds

There are two types of Hytale seeds: normal and eternal. Normal seeds can be recognized by a beige seed bag icon in the inventory or when crafting. After harvesting, the plant disappears and must be replanted or replaced with another type of seed.

Eternal Seeds

  • game environment
  • weather conditions

Influence of Environment and Weather

Plants do not necessarily need to be actively watered in order to grow. However, environmental conditions such as rain, proximity to water, or even watering can have an influence on growth. So if faster growth is desired, for example because a large amount of essence of life is needed, the following procedure can help:

  • dig water ditches between the fields
  • hope for positive environmental influences such as rain

Once a plant has reached its final growth phase, it can be harvested. This produces:

Automated Hytale Farming

A fully automated farming system in the sense of machines or autonomous mechanisms that harvest the plants is not currently implemented in the game. All farming data is stored in the save game, including:

In a local world, this data is stored on the host’s private PC. With a rented private Hytale server, all data is stored directly on the server. Regular backups are therefore highly recommended, especially for large farms.

Is it necessary to water plants in Hytale Farming?

No. Plants grow even without active watering or further intervention. Rain, proximity to water, or the use of a watering can can influence growth, but are not necessary.

What is the difference between normal seeds and eternal seeds?
