Minecraft Evoker

He is the combination of circus director, warlock (but not a witch) and raid boss: the Minecraft evoker. With lightning-fast summoning gestures, stone fangs that shoot out of the ground and a totem of undying in his robe pocket, he is one of the most dangerous illagers (evil villagers) in all of Minecraft.

Where does the Minecraft Evoker Spawn?

Minecraft evokers spawn in exactly two places:

  • in woodland mansions: There is almost always a single evoker waiting for you in specially created evoker rooms to defend the estate. If you don’t move too far away, he will remain part of the structure forever.
  • during raids: You will encounter the Minecraft evoker much more frequently in raids. This is because from wave five (Java Edition) or between waves five and seven (Bedrock), it mixes with axe wielders and archers among the raiding folk.

The evoker has no other natural spawns. His presence in the chunk even prevents additional illagers from appearing in the same place.

The Minecraft Evoker Skin: Appearance and Behavior

The Minecraft evoker wears a black robe with golden decorations, has gray skin, bushy eyebrows and always looks grumpy. His posture is upright and his hands are usually raised in an imploring pose – not a good sign.

He behaves aggressively towards players and villagers. If he sees you within a radius of twelve blocks, he will attack you from a distance. Nevertheless, the Minecraft evoker tries not to engage in direct melee combat and uses spells instead.

These Spells are Used by the Minecraft Evoker

The Minecraft Evoker uses a total of three different spells. At least two of the three spells can put you in a tricky situation, so you should always be on guard as soon as an evoker is nearby.

1. Fang Attack Spell

Its trademark is the lightning-like fang attack. Within an instant, up to 16 stony fangs shoot out of the ground either in a frontal line or in two concentric circles. Each hit deals 6x damage (3x hearts) and completely ignores shields. Before the spell is cast, the evoker raises his hands and a magical scream can be heard – time for you to jump aside before the ground snaps.

2. Summoning Spell (Summoning the Vex)

A little less spectacular, but all the more annoying is the summoning of up to three vexes. The nimble mini-demons glide through blocks, lava and walls, swing their enchanted iron sword for five points of damage and only disappear after 30 to 119 seconds or when you kill them. However, this is quite enough time to kill you. If you ignore the vex, you will be dead faster than you can say ‘pests’.

3. Coloring Spell

As a humorous bonus, the Minecraft evoker dyes every blue sheep within a radius of 16 blocks red. The whole thing is accompanied by the legendary Minecraft evoker sound ‘Wololo!’ – a tongue-in-cheek homage to Age of Empires. The magic does no harm, but the show interlude shows that even sinister illagers can sometimes have fun.

Minecraft Evoker: Drops and Health Points

The Minecraft evoker has 24x health points (12x hearts), and in the Bedrock Edition it also has two armor points. If you defeat the Minecraft evoker, he guarantees you a totem of undying – regardless of who strikes the final blow. In addition, up to one emerald, ten experience orbs and, if he appears as a raid captain, the ominous banner can drop.

The Minecraft Evoker Farm – Totems of Undying on the Assembly Line

Minecraft evokers are the key to unlimited totems of undying. These are extremely valuable as they automatically save your life when you die. Raid farms allow you to farm evokers (and other illagers) to collect totems. Modern raid farm designs produce over 300 totems and six figures of experience per hour. Especially in hardcore worlds, the totem of undying will quickly become the most valuable trinket in your off-hand.

How to Defeat the Evoker from Minecraft

Encountering a Minecraft evoker doesn’t have to be a death sentence. To fight evokers effectively, good preparation and a well thought-out strategy are crucial.

Preparing for the Fight

How to optimally prepare for the fight:

  • Armor: Iron armor is the absolute minimum to minimize damage from vexes and fangs. Ideally, however, you should wear diamond or netherite armor, as this offers significantly more protection. Enchantments such as ‘protection’ or ‘blast protection’ can also be very useful, especially if you are in the vicinity of illagers who use explosive attacks.
  • Weapons: A bow is essential for keeping your distance from the evoker and taking it out safely.
  • Potions: Be sure to take healing potions with you to quickly restore your health points in battle. Regeneration potions are also helpful as they heal over time. An invisibility potion can give you a tactical advantage to approach the evoker unnoticed or to retreat from a tricky situation.
  • Shield: A shield is an absolute must! It is extremely effective against the vex’s attacks and can block the evoker’s fang attack, saving you valuable time and health points.

Combat Strategy

You need to be tactically superior to the Minecraft evoker. This is not necessarily easy, but with a little gaming experience and a few last useful tips, you will also master this challenge.

  • Focus on the evoker: Your primary target should always be the evoker himself. As soon as it is defeated, all the vexes it has summoned will immediately disintegrate. Don’t waste time taking out all the vexes individually unless they pose an immediate threat.
  • Keep your distance and dodge: The evoker has two main attacks: summoning vexes and the fang attack. Keep as much distance as possible to avoid the fangs and use your bow to shoot at the evoker. When the fangs appear, dodge them to the side or block them with your shield.
  • Keep moving: Constant movement is crucial to avoid the evoker’s and vex’s attacks. A standing target is an easy target. Run and jump to be harder to hit.

Conclusion: Minecraft Evoker

The Minecraft evoker combines boss feeling, valuable loot and lots of chaos in one mob. If you learn to dodge the fangs and eliminate the evoker in time, you will not only gain experience and emeralds, but also secure the coveted totem of undying.
